Germany will get 65% of its electricity from renewable sources by around 2022-2024.

“Germany has demonstrated that it’s doable. They’re going to be at 65% renewable energy within ten years or so, which is almost unbelievable.”

Outcome

Partly right

Germany's renewable share of gross electricity consumption reached about 54-55% in 2024 and 55.1% in 2025 (UBA/AGEE-Stat), well short of 65% (on the narrower public net generation measure it was about 60-63%). Renewables did surge from ~23% in 2012, so a clearly weaker version happened; scored partial rather than accurate.
